Air Asia India will give new dimension to Aviation: Ratan

Tata group chairman emeritus Mr Ratan Tata and AirAsia Group chief Mr Tony Fernandes met several ministers including Civil Aviation Minister Mr Ajit Singh, regarding their application for the launch of the new low‐cost airline. Tata and Mr Fernandes briefed the minister about the latest appointments and other developments at the proposed airline. AirAsia holds 49 per cent stake in the proposed carrier while Tata Group holds a 30 per cent and Telestra Trade place has 21 per cent stake. “We came to apprise the Minister about the developments that have taken place (since FIPB cleared their proposal) and our visit to Chennai (headquarters of the proposed airline),” Mr Fernandes told reporters after a meeting with Mr Singh. Mr Fernandes was accompanied by the new AirAsia India CEO Mr Mittu Chandilya.
