India’s first indigenous helicopter, the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH Dhruv) achieved the milestone of flying 1 lakh hours. Designed, developed, produced and maintained by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Dhruv’s landmark was achieved by IA‐3104 of 301 Army Aviation Squadron (special operations). It was piloted by Lt Col Kapil Agarwal, who was quoted by HAL as having said: “It is a dream machine for any pilot.” Mr RK Tyagi, chairman, HAL, said India is the sixth nation to have the capability to develop choppers of this class. “Dhruv has been exported to Ecuador, Mauritius, Nepal and Maldives,” he said.
