First Neptune touches down in India

An IN spokesman told IHS Jane’s that the P‐8, which has an antisubmarine warfare capability and an operational range of 1,200 n miles, will be formally inducted into service by the end of the year after two more P‐81s are delivered to INS Rajali in September and November. Delivery of all eight P‐Bls, acquired in January 2009 through the Foreign Military Sales route for USD2.1 billion, will be completed by 2015, he added. The IN is also expected to sign a contract soon for four more P‐8s at an estimated cost of USD1 billion.
