HAL to host Rs 139-cr ISRO engine plant

Indian Space Research and Organisation (ISRO) Chairman, Dr K.Radhakrishnan, said that the manufacturing facilities for integrated cryogenic engines will be set up at HAL’s Aerospace Division and that HAL will continue to play an important role in ISRO’s future programmes. ISRO will soon invest Rs 139 crore for the unit in HAL, Dr  Radhakrishnan said, adding that the unit will fabricate the components required for cryogenic engines. “We need them for the GSLV MK III and also semi cryo‐engines for the future,” he said. ISRO is looking to achieve reusable launch vehicle technology and semi‐cryogenic know‐how by 2020. With the global market for space enterprise a $180 billion business, the space agency will also examine ways to collaborate with the industry to build Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLV) in the future.
