Reliance Group to set up aerospace technology research centre in Bengaluru

Reliance Group Chairman Mr Anil Ambani announced the establishment of Dhirubhai Ambani Centre for Innovation and Research in Aerospace at Whitefield in Bengaluru. Speaking at Invest Karnataka-2016 here, Mr. Ambani said: “The centre, the first-ever of its kind in the private sector in India, will be a world class facility for research, development and innovation in aerospace technology.” He said the fifth generation fighter aircraft and sixth generation technologies are already finding applications. Mr. Ambani said the proposed centre is to be set up under Reliance Defence. “I am here today to make a big commitment in that direction.” The proposed establishment would be a world class centre of aerospace excellence, he said. The centre would generate more than 1,500 highly skilled jobs and support government’s plan for indigenous design, development and manufacture of defence equipment. In Karnataka, the Reliance Group had so far invested nearly Rs.5,000 crore across several sectors, including telecom and energy.
