IAF Chief Moots Steps to Achieve Aerospace Safety

Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Chief of the Air Staff, urged the IAF to lay emphasis on training and professional competency for achieving a high level of aerospace safety. Air Chief Marshal Raha, who began a two-day visit to Thiruvananthapuram, was addressing the commanders’ conference of all air force units in the southern region at the Southern Air Command (SAC) HQ at Akkulam here. He urged the personnel to operationalise new equipment procured by the force in a systematic manner. He also laid stress on preserving the expensive assets of the IAF and emphasised on the optimisation of resources. Air Chief Marshal Raha also praised the efforts put in by IAF in Yemen and Nepal in extending humanitarian support and evacuating stranded Indians. Air Chief Marshal Raha and his wife Mrs. Lily Raha, who heads the Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA), were received at the airport by Air Marshal A P Garud, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, SAC.  On his arrival, the Air Chief was presented a guard of honour by an Air Force contingent. Air Chief Marshal Raha also interacted with the personnel of the SAC.  The Air Chief will leave Thiruvananthapuram. The commanders’ conference also will end.
