Policy needed for supremacy in aerospace, P V Naik says

Former chief of air staff Air Chief Marshal P V Naik said the country needs a clear and comprehensive policy and the national will to become a dominant force in aerospace power, which is bound to play a critical role in all future conflicts. “We need to invest in aerospace industry and aerospace technologies considering that aerospace power is the future,” Mr Naik said while delivering the Air Marshal Y V Malse memorial lecture at the University of Pune’s Yashwantrao Chavan national centre of international security and defence analysis (YC-NISDA). Air marshal (Retd) Mr B N Gokhale chaired the session. Mr Naik, who was speaking on ‘Future of aerospace power with special reference to India’, said, “With development and infusion of new and emerging technologies, the future aerospace power will offer many more options to our leaders in times of crisis. The policy makers need to realize the significance of creating an apt support system for developing aerospace power and also realize their role as a key stakeholder in promoting all efforts aimed at meeting this objective.”
