Prithvi II successfully test-fired in Odisha

India once again test‐fired the Prithvi II missile, from the Interim Test Range (ITR) located at Chandipur in north Odisha’s Balasore district. This was the nuclear‐capable missile’s second successful test launch in two days and the third successful launch in under three months. The surface‐to‐surface ballistic missile was test‐fired earlier from a missile testing centre run by the DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation). The indigenously developed medium‐range missile has the capability to hit a target at a distance of 350 km while carrying both nuclear and conventional warheads up to 500 to 1000 kg. It had a test flight in August, earlier this year, from the same test range.
