CMTI, NAL ink pacts

The Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in order to strengthen existing Research and Development (R&D) work at the government-funded centre.  The pact with CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories will focus on development and manufacturing of wind tunnel models for National Aeronautics Limited (NAL), which are essential in aero-modelling or evolving designs of aeroplane launch vehicles. This MoU aims at developing indigenous product development capabilities for aerospace applications, and lowering cost and time taken for improving product design, a CMTI official said.  Another MoU signed with i2N Technologies aims at collaborative research in the field of scanning probe microscopy. This collaboration will be of particular benefit to academia as it looks at significantly lowering cost and reducing dependency on international procurements, a CMTI release stated. The MoUs were signed in the presence of Mr R. Chidambaram, principal scientific adviser to the Government of India. Mr. Chidambaram also inaugurated the National Knowledge Network here.
