ISRO is set to cross another major milestone by launching seven satellites simultaneously. Of the seven, six are foreign, while the main one, the 410-kg Saral, is a joint Indo-French mission. The liftoff is slated for around 6 PM on February 25 at Sriharikota. The rocket will be the core version of the highly proven four-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). Speaking to TOI, ISRO officials said Saral will consists of 2 payloads, Argos and ALtika, and the primary role during its 5 year mission will be to carryout oceanographic studies. Its flight is expected to rocket Indo-French space cooperation into higher orbits, coming as it is soon after the visit of French President Francois Hollande to India. In addition there will be 2 satellites from Canada, two from Austria and one each from Denmark and UK. It may be recalled that ISRO had set a world record in April 2008 by launching 10 Satellites together in perfect precision a feat which was applauded by world space agencies.
