Hubli airport to be ready for Boeing in 2 yrs

Boeing A-320 flights can land at the Hubli airport in two years, if all goes well with the Rs 150-crore project envisaged by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The blueprint to upgrade the airport to international standards prepared by the planning directorate of the AAI, including the construction of technical and terminal buildings, was cleared at a meeting of the AAI Board in New Delhi. The upgrading includes extending the runway from the present 5,400 feet to 7,500 feet to facilitate landing of large aircraft such as Boeing. The upgrading work is expected to begin soon.
