DRDO announces Advanced Towed Artillery Guns System

The Indian Defence Research and Development Organization has recently unveiled a new firearms system that it has been developing with private participation: the Advanced Towed Artillery Guns System (ATAGS). The ATAGS, which will be ready for production in 2019, has over 6,000 different components. ATAGS is a light-weight, long-range automated gun that will weigh in at 12 tons, two tons lighter than other firearms in the same category. It will also be capable of firing five successive rounds in short duration. Loading ammunition will be fully automatic, and the system will be compatible with various kind of ammunition. Currently the system is being designed toward specific requirements of the Indian Army.
