India will have another date with the troubled Geo‐Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) in the first week of next year, attempting to put into space GSAT‐14. The launch on August 19 was called off following a glitch in the second stage of the engine. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) replaced the second stage at an additional cost of Rs 2.5 crore. “All the pre‐integration tests have been successfully completed and the integration, which began around the Mars orbiter was launched, is likely to be completed by December 24,” a senior ISRO official said. Another official, while stating that the launch is scheduled for January 5, said: “The date has to be officially fixed.” ISRO is in the process of integrating the launch vehicle. “It will then be integrated with the spacecraft which already has the payloads,” the official said.
