Mr Pramod Kumar Verma, a PhD student in the Department of Physics, IISc, said, “The Career Fair 2013 will be conducted for the first time. Companies from across all fields of science will participate in the event. Companies dealing with physics, chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, electronics, biology and several other areas have communicated to us about their participation.” Mr Pramod, who is also the Students’ Council chairman, said till date 15 companies have registered for participation in the fair. Nearly 100 establishments are expected to come to the campus. “Companies like GE, IBM are a few which have registered. The date for Career Fair has been postponed to April 6 from March 23 due to the overwhelming responses of the companies. To give some more time to the firms, the date has been extended,” he said. Prof Arindam Ghosh of the Department of Physics said, “The interdisciplinary work has made students access companies which were not reachable before. Now, we see a large number of companies coming to the campus seeking work and resources.”
