New Delhi: India is planning to set up a new test range for missiles but its location cannot be disclosed in the interest of national security, Defence Minister Mr A K Antony informed the Lok Sabha. Responding to queries from six MPs on setting up of missile testing centres, Mr Antony said: “The government is planning to set up a testing range for missiles in the country. However, location, funds to be allocated, duration of completion and other details cannot be disclosed in the interest of national security.” Officials from Defence Research and Development Organisation had stated a new range was needed because the integrated testing range at Chandipur was overloaded. The proposed range to test both short- and long-range missiles is likely to come up on the east coast.
