India to get six trainer aircraft from Switzerland in January

Air Marshal Rajinder Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, and Bangalore, has said that the Indian Air Force will get six basic military trainer aircraft, Pilatus PC-7, from Switzerland in January 2013. It will be used for training IAF personnel from July 2013. After inaugurating the Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic at Shettihalli in Tumkur, he told media persons that the Ministry of Defence had signed an agreement with Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. of Switzerland for purchase of 75 trainer aircraft. Indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft Tejas will be inducted into the IAF in December 2013. Tejas has completed 2,000 flying hours (flight tests) and the problems encountered during the flight tests have been solved, he said.
